- Chalghi @ Iraqi music - This is a great effort
to expose Iraqi music to the world. The site is neatly designed and navigation is easy and
logical. Site contains selected MP3s of very high quality Iraqi music. Site also contains
an Iraqi music lyrics server, chat, discussion forums and a featured artist section. By
the time of the review, site was featuring Yousif Omar, a great Iraqi Maqaam
"reader". This site helps Iraqi musicians in publishing their work. Also has web
hosting services for musicians and a unique e-mail service with [email protected]. All at
nominal charges. Whether the site will be able to cover all the styles and variations of
the vast array of musical styles in Iraq remains to be seen. But so far the webmaster, who
is a known musician himself, has done a good job. (July 16, 1999)

- Iraqi Painters - It is nice to
see Iraqi art and artists on the Internet. This site has 11 scans of paintings by famous
Iraqi artists. Scans are of good quality, although a bit dark. 3 of the paintings are by
"unknown" artists, the others are works of Al Tai, Mohamed Al Din, Faraj Abu,
Ibrahim Al Abdali, Khalid Al Jadir, Mahoud Ahmed, Hafez Al Doroubi and Faik Hassan.
Although the site has political afilliation, Iraqi Painters succeeds in exposing some of
the Iraqi fine art to the world in a simple and enjoyable fashion. It lacks, however,
classification of the eras that the artists/works belong to. (July 16, 1999)
